Double the Pleasure, Double the Fun

April 7th, 2009

Welcome to Arizona Felipe Lopez! What a way to start off the new season, being the lead off hitter and putting one out into the stands! Welcome to Arizona Felipe Lopez. And if one homer isn’t enough for you on opening day, he has to go and put another one out from the other side of the plate.  WOW!

Grats to Tony Clark for not letting the new kid show him up. Tony put out one from each side himself and the second to straight away center was a MONSTER

I’d like 7 of those to go!

FINALLY!

I’ve been waiting for a game like this by the Dbacks for I can’t tell you how long. Wait…..I can tell you, since Aug. 16th (11-5) against Houston. Hey guys, how about putting 7 more of these together, along with like….let me see 3 Dodger losses.

Today our guys played like a TEAM. Pitching was phenomenal. Haren pitched six great innings and the bullpen finished things off. The guys at the plate were finally hitting like I knew they could all along! CY missed the cycle by 2 feet when he gounded out to third on a rocket shot that was handled by Jeff Baker in the 9th.

This win, Dbacks 13 Rockies 4, combined with a Dodger loss to the Giants in 11 today, puts us just 2.5 games out of first place in the West! GO GIANTS!!!! If we can finish out the season playing like we did today, it’ll be post season play again for sure. Cage those Redbirds for 4 games and finish out by sweeping the Rockies at home for 3! LET’S DO IT!

Can it get any worse?

Can it get any worse?

Ping Pong anyone?

August 25th, 2008

I’m sorry, but I feel like I’m seeing an Olympic ping pong game as I watch our Dbacks the last few days. We win three, loose one, win one, loose one. Sheesh! My only consulation is that the boys in blue to the west are playing worse than we are. I hated to see Randy strike out 13 the other night, only to have the game lost late.

Dunn’s batting stats since joining the team are impressive. His on-base percentage is fantastic and when he does strike out, he’s taking the pitcher DEEP into the count. The two homers he hit in the last week sure helped as well, and it’s something I’d like to see a lot more of. Git er DUNN!

Denny’s brunch in Houston

August 17th, 2008

“Oh, Ms. Could I have an order of fries with my two grand slam breakfasts?”

I felt like I had just ordered a heart attack brunch at Denny’s in Houston, as I was working on azdbacker.com yesterday afternoon. WOW! Can you believe the bats in that game? Miguel Montero and Chris Young gave Brandon Backe an evening I’m sure he would like to forget. Backe gave up 11 runs and 2 grand slams in the Dbacks routing of the Astros 11-5. For the second straight night, our guys hammered an Astros team that had put together an eight-game winning streak until Brandon Webb and Arizona put a stop to it the night before. I’m glad Chris Young was able to deliver in front of his family and friends. I still have mixed feelings about the acquisition of Adam Dunn, but one thing is for sure, since his arrival the Dbacks’ bats have have really been hitting the baseball. I hope this is the start of a LONG trend and not just some flash-in-the-pan streak. We’ll see.

August 16th, 2008

Welcome to AzDbacker.com! I hope you enjoy your visit. I’m going to use this space to shout my praises, vent my frustrations, and share my opinions about the Dback players, management, and fans. I’ll be working on adding a forum for other fans to share their ideas as well. Time for me to stop jawing for now and start working on making this site look a bit better. Please check back soon.
